Penelope Cruz by JeremyOsborne Penelope Cruz by JeremyOsborne
A colored pencil drawing I did of one of the most lovely images I have ever seen. I added in the yellow dress to the picture and lightened some of her hair. Love her look in this drawing however.

*Just added a long over due improvement to the photo that was taken of this piece, actually does it justice ;o)

This is so fresh... wow. I'm amazed at your skill with colored pencils, that's a tricky one to master.

Thanks, glad you like it, I just updated this photo with a much better camera, now I think people can real see a representation of the original piece.

Yes, the quality is superb. What are the specifications of the camera you use?

I asked what would be best for close up photos and they said a Sony- cyber shot that has 14.1 mega pixels and a Carl Zeiss (Vario-Tessar) lens. Basically it is this camera in the compact zoom category [link]

Yeah I really like this one also, sadly I have not been able to capture something like this since then. However easily of all the pictures I have made, this original image was the best out of any photo I have seen, and her hair turned out great which puts it in another category than the rest.

Thanks, the original picture is probably one of the best photos I have ever seen, sadly not sure I have made a piece like this since then, in terms of realistic and crisp drawing. Sadly because she is a celebrity most do not consider it art. Oh well, glad you like it.

Thank you very much, I am not the best at blending but I literally use my finger and try to make sure there are not white dots on the paper, some hate this way of doing it but for me it seems to work ok, but it is not easy. Glad to see another one came over to our side ;o)

what type of colored pencils do you use? the ones i use are a bit hard to blend so i use a blending stump or cotton buds dipped in acetone to blend the colors..

I use prismacolor colored pencils, some are old crayola ones I had as a child and those suck for blending. For example graphite pencils I find extremely easy to blend with ones finger tip, I find that black and white drawings are much easier because it is easier to shade.

I have a blending stump I believe, never though of using acetone on a drawing, guess I am just old fashioned and want to do it myself when some people even use a guide to draw a freaking circle. I just do not like that so I try to blend without help of outside things and tricks.

This is excellent. I love how I knew who it was immediately; it's very close to how she looks, and it's realistic.

The pose looks kind of awkward, and the colours in the hair don't flow perfectly, but all in all, a stunning picture. :)
